Welcome to the Des Moines West Side Chamber of Commerce

Our mission is to serve our community by supporting and enhancing the unique quality of life and commerce that defines the Des Moines West Side.

Winter is upon us and 2014 will soon be coming to an end.

It's been a very rewarding and progressive year with continued growth of new members.  We look forward to 2015 and anticipate it will be just as great.

We have lots of new events planned for 2015 as well as our usual Wake Up West Sides and Business After Hours.  We will continue to enjoy Regional events with the other two Metro Chambers also.

November 20  we will have a luncheon at the Embassy Club with the speaker being Ambassador Quinn, president of The World Food Prize Foundation.

Lots of happenings in The Des Moines West Side Chamber.  Watch our calendar of events for the details.

About the West Side Chamber

Des Moines' West Side is an established area of our city with a rich history in niche retail and service businesses, higher education, restaurants, boutique professional offices, cultural amenities, and not-for-profits. From the sole proprietor coffee houses to our major universities, this area boasts a diverse employment base

Substantial investments have been made in the renaissance of the various cultural and business centers including the Ingersoll corridor, Roosevelt shopping district and the Drake area which attract customers from all over the greater Des Moines area and tourists visiting our city - also the Beaverdale shopping area and the Merle Hay Mall with reinvestment and renovations currently underway.

The vision for the Des Moines West Side Chamber of Commerce is to provide services such as:

Advocacy
Business Promotion
Business Services

Communication
Networking/Chamber Involvement

An important issue passed by the legislature this year is the Home Base Iowa Act proposed by Governor Terry Branstad. "Through their service, veterans have already proven they share the values we hold dear as Iowans - hard work, leadership, and patriotism, among others.  Home Base Iowa allows veterans to find the right job for them in Iowa, and to become a part of our communities".  Iowa Workforce Development is helping in this effort.   For further information on this important issue visit the website at homebaseiowa.org.
