We had a super evening at our 5th Annual Summer Sipper. We had a beautiful setting at the August Home Publishing carriage house and gardens. Great music by Rob Lumbard set the mood for our theme of the evening, "Old Fashioned County Fair". We sampled some of our favorite fair foods and special beverage "Cotton Candy" cocktail. We even had a "pie eating contest".
Thank you to all our sponsors.

From the sole proprietor coffee houses to our major universities, this area boasts a diverse employment base
Substantial investments have been made in the renaissance of the various cultural and business centers including the Ingersoll corridor, Roosevelt shopping district and the Drake area which attract customers from all over the greater Des Moines area and tourists visiting our city - also the Beaverdale shopping area and the Merle Hay Mall with reinvestment and renovations. Not only local, but also WEST SIDE!

An important issue passed by the legislature this year is the Home Base Iowa Act proposed by Governor Terry Branstad. "Through their service, veterans have already proven they share the values we hold dear as Iowans - hard work, leadership, and patriotism, among others. Home Base Iowa allows veterans to find the right job for them in Iowa, and to become a part of our communities". Iowa Workforce Development is helping in this effort.
