We look forward to our Annual Victory Celebration on February 23, 2016, 5:00pm - 7:00pm at The Des Moines Community Playhouse. The events committee is planning a fun evening, for a "West Side Experience" along with award presentations for Ambassador of the Year, Citizen of the Year, Business of the Year and the Soozie McBroom ServiceAward. We'll have time to reflecton on 2015 and comment on our plans for 2016.

About the West Side Chamber
Des Moines' West Side is an established area of our city with a rich history in niche retail and service businesses, higher education, restaurants, boutique professional offices, cultural amenities, and not-for-profits. From the sole proprietor coffee houses to our major universities, this area boasts a diverse employment base
Substantial investments have been made in the renaissance of the various cultural and business centers including the Ingersoll corridor, Roosevelt shopping district and the Drake area which attract customers from all over the greater Des Moines area and tourists visiting our city - also the Beaverdale shopping area and the Merle Hay Mall with reinvestment and renovations. Not only local, but also WEST SIDE!
The vision for the Des Moines West Side Chamber of Commerce is to provide services such as:
An important issue passed by the legislature this year is the Home Base Iowa Act proposed by Governor Terry Branstad. "Through their service, veterans have already proven they share the values we hold dear as Iowans - hard work, leadership, and patriotism, among others. Home Base Iowa allows veterans to find the right job for them in Iowa, and to become a part of our communities". Iowa Workforce Development is helping in this effort.
