Our mission is to serve our community by supporting and enhancing the unique quality of life and commerce that defines the Des Moines West Side.
We'll have our annual World Food Prize event at Terrace Hill again this year on October 15, 7:30am - 9:00am. Our speaker will be Dr. Mark McLellan of Utah State University.
Something new this Fall is a joint event on October 22nd at the Des Moines Community Playhouse, 5:30pm - 7:00pm with the Young Professionals Connection. We have a super panel of young West Side Chamber entrepreneurs to discuss their successes in business ownership.
We also promote the events sponsored by the Greater Des Moines Partnership. Lots going on in preparation for the upcoming caucuses. All the presidential candidates have been invited to speak in a Q & A session. Welcome to Iowa!

About the West Side Chamber
Des Moines' West Side is an established area of our city with a rich history in niche retail and service businesses, higher education, restaurants, boutique professional offices, cultural amenities, and not-for-profits. From the sole proprietor coffee houses to our major universities, this area boasts a diverse employment base
Substantial investments have been made in the renaissance of the various cultural and business centers including the Ingersoll corridor, Roosevelt shopping district and the Drake area which attract customers from all over the greater Des Moines area and tourists visiting our city - also the Beaverdale shopping area and the Merle Hay Mall with reinvestment and renovations. An important issue passed by the legislature this year is the Home Base Iowa Act proposed by Governor Terry Branstad. "Through their service, veterans have already proven they share the values we hold dear as Iowans - hard work, leadership, and patriotism, among others. Home Base Iowa allows veterans to find the right job for them in Iowa, and to become a part of our communities". Iowa Workforce Development is helping in this effort.
